so how come when i download anime and opens with windows media it always just has the sound no picture thingy whatever you call it
and on my other computer it works perfectly fine

If you're getting sound and no picture, it would be a smart idea to install a codec. I would recommend getting VLC Media Player (it plays prettymuch every video file you can think of), but if you prefer keeping your old Windows Media Player, my preferred codec is FFDShow.

You may need to download a CODEC. A CODEC is simply software that translates the digital information into pictures and sounds.
Download the free DIVX CODEC from http://www.divx.com

go to http://avsmedia.com and download their free DVD player
install it on the computer that won't play your media files

maybe because you dan't have the required codec for the program an the computer that doesn't work.
