Mr Cool ....I'm happy that you've been playing cricket for the last 13 years....but obviously you went to school for much less than that!
Seriously....just because Sachin did not perform very well in this World Cup it means that all his other acheivements previously amounts to nothing? Give the man some slack!
Back to the original question....Sachin is a formidable player regardless if he wins a WC before his career ends. He is an icon to the cricketing world and Indians should be proud of this. Please remember that it is a team and not an individual that wins matches. All the other players are partly responsible for the team's demise also.
Whatever you do, Sachin's acheivements are permanently etched in history and you cannot take that away from him.

He is one of the greatest players of Cricket. Since he didnt help India to win the world cup it doesnt mean that he is not a good player. He is a night mare for every bowler. He did help India to go to the world cup final in 2003. Since he didnt play well in this World cup it dosent mean that he is not a great batsmen.
He is a man who has been playing international Cricket for about 15 years. He is a man with a lot of experience. He still has the potontial to make the Indian team win the world cup.

Greatness of a player is not fully dependent of winning the world cup or a tournament, as it is a team effort and only one man cannot win the matches. While Sachin has been termed as a great player as he has set many batting records, wome of which will remain unbeaten for many years to come, his peformance in the recent past indicates that he is no more a great player as known to be couple of years ago.

No - Ganguly made only 66 from 129 balls against Bangladesh in the team's opening fixture .
Old batsman Sachin Tendulkar too had shown an inability to speed up scoring against Bangladesh and had contributed just seven runs from 26 balls.

Sachin and a great player? He is the biggest flop ever in Indian cricket. His unsatiable lust for money has not only brought the face of Indian bow down in shame, but also also set a very wrong model for all the players who came after him. He is the single player because of whom Indian cricket has gone to dogs.
