Depends what you want to do... Here's a list of places I like:

* West Hollywood (Great Restaurants & Bars)
* The beach (from Santa Barbara to San Diego)
* Big Bear for hiking and Skiing also the Los Angeles National Forrest.
* Santa Inez Valley for wine tasting
* Santa Barbara for shopping and hanging out
* Sulvang for sweedish pancakes
* Joshua Tree National Park
* Palm Springs
* Ventura for sport fishing

There's just too much to list, but that should give you a good place to start.

John.

Check out the new Metlox Center in Manhattan Beach.. It has five restaurants around a fountain and plaza area that is protected from the wind, yet still open. It also has great parking for a couple of hundred cars with an escalator that brings you up to the middle of the plaza. The Zinc bar extends to the terrace overlooking the plaza for people watching. If you like, you can walk two blocks to the pier at Manhattan Beach Blvd with about 20 more restaurants and bars and a mircrobrewery.

The top bar is at the Rock N Fish next to the pier..

I love going here for lunch, it is really crowded in the evening.
