Not very different from Newton's third law of physics, a similar law exists which is responsible for what is bothering you. In other words, people have responded to the intolerances of the past by jumping to the other extreme and becoming "over sensitive". For example, people don't like it if you say things against blacks or act derogatory against them because it reminds them of our recent history of oppression of blacks (through slavery etc) which existed until the civil rights era. Likewise, people are easily offended by Jewish jokes since it reminds them of the great atrocities commited against the Jews (e.g. holocost) in the 20th century.

So, to answer your question I think people are more "sensitive" these days as a direct result of gross intolerance and discrimination carried out in the past and even today. People are reactionaries. They respond most consistently to things they don't like or things that frighten them. So when people continue to be intolerant it only fuels the sensitization of others.

Because people take themselves way too seriously. But it also depends on what you say to them. Dont say things you wouldnt want someone to say to you. Are you shorter or fatter or less hair than you like? Would you like me to call you a midget, pig or baldy? What if I called you a gutless insensitive f*ck?
So, I guess its important to put the shoe on the other foot and think before you speak. Even though some people are too sensitive you should be aware of what you are saying.

Too much PC thinking. Everybody should be responsible for their own sensitivities. Lawyers making money on injuries are a part of it too. The ACLU has done some good but far more harm..

I say what ever I like, I call a jew a jew and a n-i-g-g-e-r a n-i-g-g-e-r. If people don't like it they can go F themselves. Don't worry about others. They don't like something, its their problem not yours.
