everyone is wrong it was actually invented by the brititsh circa 1890. it was a joke played on the french. it was like a trick question. they would have them bound and make them do truth or dare and say if they tell the truth or if they do the dare they would let them go and if they chose dare they would say something they physically couldnt do because they were bound. and if they picked truth they would use it as an interrogative technique to gain info on the enemy but no matter what they said they would accuse them of lying and kill them. alot of fun childish games have dark backgrounds even ones like ring around the rosie.

it was on an early teenage movie in the 80s did the game and it spread through teens and kids until it was everywhere
