Since there is nothing listed under the "Volume" tab, the volume icon does not appear near the clock at the bottom of the screen, and cannot be clicked in the "Volume" tab.

I tried all of the suggestions listed below that I could, but none of them seem to work. I reinstalled the driver after uninstalling, but that didn't help.

Try double clicking the little speaker icon on the bottom right side of the toolbar next to the time. Check which boxes are checked and which sliders are up.

go to start - control panel - Performance and maintenance - system - Hardware - Device manager. Look for any exclamation marks. If there are some you have to reinstall your drivers. If not Try
Start - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Volume Control. See If someone Accidentally muted your volume.

maybe the speakers died
maybe something loosened the speakers
maybe there is a faulty wire
maybe the volume is not transferring data to the speakers
maybe...

try reinstalling the driver. if that doesn't work try getting new speakers, you probably killed them while jamming out to your favorite tunes at full volume...if you do that that is.

Do you have the little speaker icon in your task bar? If so, right click it, left click "open volume controls" and check the tabs.

Try rollover of sound drivers if that does not work than first uninstall the driver, restart your PC than install the driver & restart again.

I would say reinstall or update the drivers. Even if they say they are working there may be newer ones available.
