My dog...

But then my cousin named her baby girl Riley.

I still think it sounds like a golden retriever.

For some reason, I always picture a blonde haired, blue eyed, white boy that has grown up in a upper-class family that belongs to a country club. Riley will play sports in junior high and high school and make fun of kids that act differently than he does. He will go onto to college to major in business because he doesn't know what else to do with his life. I can't honestly picture Riley past college because post college requires a sturdy name and I don't see Riley as being one.

Spelled Riley=boys name
Spelled Reilly=girls name

Both good names, I know i of each (meaning a boy Riley and a girl Reilly) and I like those people. Personally, the name is interesting and original compared to all the Bobby's and Jessica's out there (sorry all Bobby's and Jessica's).

I think of the actor William Bendex. He was an overweight kind of blue collar pre-Archie Bunker. He was the star of a 50's TV sit com called 'The Life of Riley'. He was also in a bunch of 40's and 50's movies mostly war or western.

First, I love the name Riley! In my mind, it is unisex. If someone said "oh my friend Riley...." I would have to ask if Riley was a boy or a girl. I do like it more for a girl though.

I think of O'Reily Auto Parts, but on a person, the only Riley I have met was a pimple-faced waiter at a local restaurant, and then there was a Riley on Buffy forever ago, both boys. My opinion on it is, it is better suited as a last name. It is too weak for a male and not feminine enough for a girl.

I think Riley sounds great for a boy or a girl, it's cool either way. Makes me think "Irish" for some reason. lol :-)

Me, I personally don't like that name. It reminds me of an old duty station, when I was in the Army. That was a terrible assignment. Ft. Riley, KS. Yuck!
