My history is similiar to yours. My husband and I tried to get pregnant for about 5 years. We started when I was 30. Our infertility was completely unexplained. I did the clomid for 3 months, then went to giving myself shots. I had some endometriosis that was somewhat removed, and also had a cyst on my ovary that was removed at a later time. We did invitro just to see. I had 8 good eggs removed, 6 fertilized, but 4 were of good quality and we put those 4 back in. I waited anxiously, did my shots, everything they said to do, and didn't get pregnant. Went back to the shots one month on and one month rest cycle. I got pregnant on a rest cycle without any drugs or shots, and had my first son at 35. Had a miscarriage when my son was 6 months old, got pregnant again three months later and had my second son at 37. I am now turning 40. We had our IVF done in Raleigh, NC and at that time it cost $5,000. My advice to you is go further along with the fertility drugs first and give them a good try for several cycles before forking out the money for the IVF. I had a friend who had done IVF about 5 years ago, but she didn't have endometriosis. They only were able to extract 2 eggs, and only one of hers fertilized and was put back in. She got pregnant from the one. It's so hard to tell what will happen. One other thing for whatever it's worth, there is a nutritional product out there called Reliv, and I have heard people who have taken it and said they got some relief from problems with endometriosis. You can go to Reliv.com to learn more about it. We take it daily, but didn't know about it at the time. You can email me if you want more information about it golferwife5@yahoo.com Hang in there! It's tough!

I was 30 when I was first diagnosed with endometriosis, after the unbelievable heavy bleeding during the periods. I had my first diagnostic surgery in 1998 and they also removed some of the lesions and the cysts on that occasion. From that point on it was a crazy dance with my life revolving around my disease and the days of my life going by me as if I was just a spectator. I was on Lupron that offered some help but destroyed me financially.
My parents were basically living on the verge of poverty just so that they can help me pay for my Lupron. I had a partial hysterectomy in 2005 and I was a bit better for approximately a year. And after endometriosis and pain returned in 2006, I remember that I just gave up any hope that I will lead a normal life ever again.
I was never able to maintain a healthy relationship and I gave up on that, too. I found out about this eBook (http://tinyurl.com/EndometriosisB ) on the internet and the few clicks changed everything. I could not believe that I have been suffering needlessly for so long. I will not be able to have children because my fallopian tubes and ovaries are removed, but I am just thankful that I am again able to lead a healthy full life...

If you have any doubts, I would get a second opinion. IVF is tough mentally, spirtually, physically and emotionally . . . all of the doctors stats and % of success are wonderful but in the end it is important to have the right doctor with you every step of the way. I am not sure what you mean by follicle strength . . . my personal experience with IVF included numerous blood tests during the cycle to measure my estriodol levels as well as ultrasounds which told the doctors how well I was responding to the medications based on the number and size of the follicles. During the cycle, my RE adjusted my medications 3 times to get the response that he wanted . . . Unfortunately, there is no way to know the true quality of the egg within the follicle. I had 11 mature follicles and they retrieved all 11 eggs . . . unfortunately only 2 made it to fertilization. The RE felt that many of my eggs might have been immature . . . that perhaps we triggered early and that normal being a measurement of 20 - 22mm . . .if I had to do another cycle we would have tried to suppress ovulation and grow to 22 - 24mm. In IVF, there are no guarantees and everyones cycle is a bit different and chances of success vary based on many things such as the ovarian reserve, age, other medical issues etc . . . my official diagnosis was unexplained infertility but I did have some endo removed years earlier. I want to say that the RE put our chance of success at about 35 - 40% for first cycle but he was confident that he would help us to achieve pregnancy within 3 cycles as if it came down to it he would make adjustments to the cycle based on my individual response. I am 34. PS - the the poster below me . . . you have a choice when you do IVF. We only had 2 embryos and transferred BOTH. There were no "externally conceived" lost embryos. BUT - if we had more we would have froze them for a future cycle and probably donated any others to another couple struggling with infertility. If you do not believe in destroying them or donating them. . . then you do not have to. There are other options!

I am doing a round of IVF. The success rate for IVF differs depending on the situation. I don't have endo. so I am not sure what your chances would be. It may be higher than trying on your own since their is alot of assistance and extra medication you would be on. Did you do Lupron therapy for the endo? Is you your Dr a fertility expert, like an RE? If he is not I would consult an RE. Yes, IVF is very expensive but if you want to start a family and it's the only way to get pregnant then it's worth the costs.

Let me begin with this, I have stage 4 endometrosis. I have two major operations to remove it along with ovarian cysts. I underwent 5 unsucessful IUI's with super ovulation. The dr.'s told me that IVF was my only option. I didn't do the IVF and one year after my final fertility treatment I delivered an 8 lb 4 oz girl. I was so shocked after 5 years of trying and crying!!! So I hope this gives you hope, because my endometrosis was worse and my husbands sperm count was also a little low too.

IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment and IUI is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Fly2india4health Consultants. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients, as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.
They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of Healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
My cousin got her IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI surgery done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for Fly2india4health Consultants. She paid just 20% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. Hope this helps

A informative site to check out is..
ivfconnections.com
They even have a board for endometriosis.I would think if your Doc.
said IUI didn't hold to great of chances.
I would skip clomid &IUI and go right toIVF.
I forgot to add keep all recipts of payment. Even copays...For everything even like glasses, other med's,any thing for the year your insurance don't cover. And records of milage...It's a tax deduction!!
Good-Luck !
