if i stand up on the ground floor outside a building, i feel that the wind around high buildings is greater / heavier than aroun small buildings? why is that ?

Greater surface area exposed to the wind means more air striking the building. This air has to move around the building, so it does - and because there's more of it, you feel more of it.

Keep in mind also that the small buildings have the wind blocked from them by other buildings. The tall buildings do not.

The air flows around them, channeled by the streets, like a canyon. Many streets in larger cites are very windy, because of this.
