Would you point out that you got back too much change?
Would you tell a customer that they are buying yesterday's paper?
If a customer gives you too much and doesn't notice, do you point it out or pocket it?
Would you go back into a store if you discovered you had walked out with something you didn't pay for?
Would you take your kid back into the store if he shoplifted and make him (or her) own up to it?
Would you cover for your kid if he (or she) shoplifted?
Would you shoplift intentionally?
Come up with some others.
Be honest

Would and have pointed out that I have gotten back too much change
Would tell a customer they are buying yesterdays paper.
Would and have given back incorrect amounts of payment (overages) given to me
Would go back if I discovered I had left the store with something I hadn't paid for.
Would take my kids back in to apologize if he/she shoplifted; hope I don't have to do it now...they are both adults and taller than me (ha)
Would not cover for my kid
Would never shoplift or steal or take anything that wasn't mine. I was brought up to know that honesty is the best policy.
I have also worked in retail sales and management, so I have been on both sides of the counter; so I know how important these types of things are from the public and business side.
I believe the last statistics I learned in a anti-shoplifting seminar was seventeen cents of every retail dollar we spend in the USA is covering losses due to theft. This was over a year ago, so it may well be even higher now...
In other words, I was brought up to only purchase what I can afford, with money that I have earned, no grey area. I do not use charge cards, only debit cards.
My Dad retired from a job in the food industry after 38 years, and was so bored being home he went to work part time in a department store in the Boston area. He worked in their security department and helped customers to their cars. He was totally shocked to see the tens of thousands of dollars of missing merchandise in a weeks time.
Even the night crew that was stocking shelves were leaving behind empty boxes makeup, jewelry, dishes, silverware...you name it. He was disgusted, to say the least. He and I had many discussions about it.
I was managing in retail at that time in a different state, and was fighting large loses where I was managing. I spent tons of time hiring and firing staff that thought they could just take whatever they wanted.
I truly think that the majority of people are honest, but it is the small minority that commits these crimes and makes it difficult for the rest of us.
Have a good night.

I never ever sholifted and never believed in it. I know some times some people can have a disease where they can not stop shoplifting even if they have the money to pay. My son is four years old, once he took a chocolate egg from the store. I went back and paied the money even if it was only couple of dollars. Kids should learn from a very early age that shoplifting is bad. They should not to be manipulated by their peers. If some one does nto have a lot of money, he or she should learn to go buy after how much he or she has,his or her budget.A lot of people also do it for revenge adn I do not believe in getting revenge either. I am not a saint and a lot of people feel the same way!

I pass each one of those tests.
I have been given too much change and returned it.
I have never sold papers.
I haven't been a sales person but a postal worker forgot to charge me a stamp so I returned the next day.
I have gone back to two different stores: once because a watch got stuck to my wife's coat, the other time because I absent-mindedly walked out with my groceries after chatting away with the store owner, and getting us both distracted!
I took my kid back to the store. I didn't cover.
I would never shoplift. I need my sleep.
So - am I honest? I think I would blush a little if I told you I was completely honest all the time. But I do have a conscience, and try to keep it from hardening.

I have been called a goody two-shoes for being honest, but that's just the way I am.
Yes, I tell the truth even when it is not to my advantage. At work when I realize I've made a mistake, I point it out to my boss. I don't even lie on this website where nobody knows me and wouldn't know if I was lying or not.

You forgot the question of "if you found money/jewelry would you turn it in?
I did find both at different times and yes, I turned it in.
I also marched my kid back to the store that he took a dirty mag from, made him fess up to the theft, and he had to confess to his church going grandma. Damn kid never calls me anymore...

Yes. I've done this before and the cashier told me to keep it anyway.
Yes.
Point it out. I don't steal.
Yes.
I don't have kids yet, but stealing won't be allowed in my home. S/he'll have to own up.
No.
Not unless I was in some dire emergency that mandated it.
