tampons don't hurt, although if you are worried about it I would either stick to pads or use the jr. tampons for now....

If inserted correctly, tampons do not hurt at all. You can't even feel them. Also, if not inserted correctly, they will leak. Other than that, the only other way that they will leak would be when they're full. Think about it. Periods are bad enough, if tampons hurt, millions of us girls would never use them. Rarely does anyone get it right the first time. Think of it like learning to ride a bike. Did you get that right the first time? Not many do. Anyway, the most important things to remember are RELAX. If you don't, you'll tense up, making it more difficult. Be patient. Don't get discouraged and give up. It may take some time, but it will be so worth it. Oh, and never "practice" when you're not on your period. If you remove a "dry" tampon, it will be difficult and could be painful. It may seem a little overwhelming at first, but once you learn, you'll be so glad you did, Good luck.

Tampons don't hurt unless they're not pushed in far enough or the absorbency is too big. As for which type or brand of tampon to use -- it's a personal choice. Many women prefer the plastic applicator because it's smoother. And as for pads, I personally hate them. I used them for about a year and it feels like you're walking around with a diaper on! Tampons are so much easier and there's less of a chance for a leak. Remember to just relax and take your time. =]

Tampons shouldn't hurt if they are in place correctly, they can always be a bit awkward when you first start using them, but as you get to know your body better it is a piece of cake, try using applicator tampons, or smaller tampons,

I am 39 years old and have always been told that tampons don't hurt. HOWEVER, I seem to have a reaction to the materials in both tampons and pads (cotton fibers maybe?). So I think it's safe to say - it depends on the person who is using it.

Put in correctly, they should not hurt at all. The danger to using tampons is leaving them in too long. Toxic if you do that. Personally, I wear pads unless I'm swimming or something.

They only hurt if they're not pushed in far enough. As for the pads v tampons debate - it's a personal choice. I'm in Australia and use Carefree Silk Mini's, don't know if they're available worldwide, but they're great.

I personally think tampons hurt, but that's me and I really can't speak for you. But I prefer pads, unless I urgently need a tampon for something like swimming.

If they are inserted properly, you won't feel it at all. In my opinion, the plastic applicator tampons are easier to insert. I prefer Playtex Gentle Glide to anything else. You may have to try a few different varieties before you decide which is best for you.

It depends on if your hymen has already been broken or not. Also, at first it may feel strange and a bit uncomfortable, but after practice, you won't even notice it's there. As for better/not so better kinds, I believe cardboard is rougher than the plastic applicators.
