You can probably expect to pay $150 or more for 300 GB drive. you can add as little as 40 GB. You can either install an internal drive or you can get a USB or Firewire external drive. The external drives will be more expensive, but installing it is just plugging in the USB/Firewire cable and power. You will also need to load the Windows OS and applications plus your data files on the new HD so you will need the original install disks.
Unless you really need the storage space I would recommend that you save the money and put it into a new computer. I still have and use an old laptop that has a 10GB HD and even have room for a good chunk of MP3s, photos and personal documents on it.

Use up the 20 GB storage space on your current hard drive first, then worry about adding a 2nd HD with larger GB for additional file storage.
Having a whole lot of unused HD storage does NOT increase your computers performance!

Well you can't use SATA, so you are left with ATA/IDE 100 or you can also use an ATA/IDE 133 drive (although it will only run as an ATA/IDE 100 drive). Your best bet for service and price is http://newegg.com . You can use virtually any size drive but depending on your OS and what it can address as the biggest size you may have to partition it before you format it.

Virtually any IDE or EIDE hard drive should fit into the system. The price would depend on how big a HD you want.
Try pricegrabber.com or tigerdirect.com fpr examples of HD pricing.

well the best place to look is newegg.com, a couple of points, a new hard drive does not improve performance, as far as cost if you want to do it yourself its the price of the hard drive, the size really is as big as you want and what is publicly aviable , the process is of replacing a hard drive is usually described in a poster that comes with the hard drives.
