I don't want to be completely insensitive I just want to calm down my emotions so that I'd be able to handle rejection and stuff in a healthy way.

There is nothing wrong with being sensitive. In fact, part of being sensitive is being a tough person. It depends on how you look at it. It takes a strong person to be sensitive. You have to applaud yourself for recognizing this quality in yourself. Rejection is difficult for everyone. When this happens, draw on positive experiences you have had in the past. Look at what you have learned from those experiences and use those in the future. Rejection allows you to grow as a person.

There's no magical cure. If you are afraid that there's some underlying Freudian-esque reason for your insecurities, then try a therapist. If you are just naturally timid, then practice being tough. Go to a different town or city, where nobody will recognize you. Flirt with a stranger, yell at a stranger, stick up for yourself, get in a bar-fight, kick a homeless person, anything you think that you need to learn how to do to be tough. Once you take this first step, it comes easier.

Try repeating a mantra, maybe? "I am a strong and amazing person, and I don't need external confirmation of that." It works for some people...

Don't let things bother you for too long. Easier said than done, right? Wrong. If you think you're gonna cry yourself to sleep over something, then go grab a friend and have a night out in town to distract you and wear you out. Repeat as necessary.

There really is not answer to this. You are who you are. I am the same way. One day I called my mother to confirm the reservation; She in turn told me was going to be around 7pm. I told her I might not be able to go now since Hubby has to leave the house for work at 9pm; I told her I would call the other siblings to make sure. Mom in turn told one of the siblings that I called to cancel the dinner reservation. So when I called one of them, the sibling that I demanded why the time changed, other sibling says doesnt matter anymore sinced you cancelled yourself! I was yelling hestirically; mad and I didnt talk to them for a month or so. That is bad!! I can't change the way I am, But I will try to avoid that situation when possible. Good luck to us!! Now when it comes to rejection, I have no problem. I can take it. I don't to force anyone to ever liking me in a way i want him to like me; i will not be making myself or him happy.

Its very hard to handle rejection, especially from someone that you might want to be with, but life has a way of creating a hard shell, especially if you get hurt enough times. ( I hope this doesn't happen to you). Protect yourself at all cost, and if you learn something along the way, that's wonderful but still make sure that you're not completely devastated.

Hi Sunshine. Your name by itself suggests you have a sunny disposition. And sensitivity is a wonderful gift. Few people have it. And that's probably why a lot of people reject you. They are intimidated and threatened by YOU. So be happy, put a smile on, be your sunny self. You'll find others like yourself. As you get older, you'll find others who are like yourself. Think positive!

First change your name cause it doesn't help the situation. Second get drunk and listen a lot rap that has a lot corse words...Third watch a lot of war movies such as the platoon, full medal jacket, saving private ryan, casualties of war, enemies at the gates. Fourth watch a lot of ganster film like Once upon a time in america, good fellas, the godfather 1,2,3,4, casino, donnie brasco...good luck son...

The answer to this is really (and I'm not just saying this) inside of you. practice makes perfect. To create patience you need to place yourself in situations that require you to practice this skill. It is the same with sensetivity. Just like a vaccine you need to build up your strangth with little bursts of 'hard times' so that when, say, your girlfriend dumps you, you can get on with life. trust me, I'm a psychology major.

Sensitivity is a trait many people could use more of. The one suggestion I have, is try not to take too many things personal.
