I feel like I stress this so often, preps rarely shop at places like A&F, AE, HCo., etc. They might for days when they are too lazy to put effort into their clothes. A true preppy person shops at Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Lacoste, Ralph Lauren, etc. They vacation in the South Hamptons, are exclusive members of country clubs, play croquet, sip expensive cocktails like Manhattan Sidecars, and Rob Roys. You are what most people will stereotypically call a spoiled rich kid. I doubt you foot the bill for all your name brand clothing, for that new XBox 360, that laptop, nor will you have to buy your first car and I doubt it will be some piece of cr*p starter car. It will be some over-priced BMW, or Land Rover. (of course this is if you don't already have a car daddy bought for you) I bet the first car wreck you get in you won't care, because you assume dad will get you a new one. If you worked for that laptop, XBox, car, clothing, etc. and paid for it all, you would appreciate it more. You don't think you are spoiled because all your life you have just been handed the things you want. (mind you there is a difference between the things you need and the things you simply want.) Once you hit the real world and have to get a job to get these things you are in for a rude rude awakening! After spending your first paycheck on two shirts and a pair of jeans from A&F, and then can't pay a single bill or buy food, you will learn the hard lesson that clothes are clothes, and they dont have to be ridiculously over-priced to be stylish. I know you won't vote this best answer and you will most likely roll your eyes when you read this, but I don't believe in telling people what they want to hear. If it's not the blunt, it's not honesty, it people telling you what you want to hear to get points!

Being a prep is not a lifestyle, it's an attitude. Being rich is a lifestyle. And, if you have all those things you may just be well off. But, to be a prep or "preppy' you would have to have a particular attitude (ie:snooty, thinking your better than everyone else, etc.)

thats not a good thing as far as im concerned. having too much, makes you unthhankful i think. If you had to save the money to buy the xbox or laptop, youd probably appreciate it alot more.If its your parents money, I wouldnt call that prep, id call it spoiled brat.If you work to make all this money, thats different.

usually at my school, prep is defined as wearing hollister/ abercrombie stuff and pretending to be stupid or something, and believe me, i have seen them in the act. [its rather sad]
no i don't think your prep, you just have more stuff than your friend.
and i don't think having your own computer is being rich, because plenty of kids these days do, and i think its important for doing your own work and stuff, so everyones not fighting over 1 computer
the x-box 360 is maybe not so necessary tho.
