New people generally start at 32K and can move up to 45K in 8 months if performance meet the standard.
Senior staff can expect 90K range.

Not much of a career over all.

The median salary for product design engineer for a company with over 50,000 employees is $67,000. This would be working for one of the large car manufacturers. The median salary for product design engineer with less than a year of experience is $49.750. These are very general salary figures, since the salary will also depend on city, state and level of education attained. I would suggest filling out the free salary survey at http://www.payscale.com/?src=yahooA so you can enter all the details around the job you are considering.

The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career.
