I've only ever had dwarf hamsters, so I'm certaintly not an expert, but I'm not sure they're trainable. What do you want to train a hamster to do anyway? But yes, Russian dwarfs are adorable, and about the size of a mouse. They're very fluffy and cuddly, and normally have friendly personalities. We have 5, 4 of which we've had since birth. You have to leave them alone for about 3-4 weeks after birth, but then it is good to play with them as much as possible. The more you handle them, the friendlier they are. Mine, Azul, is by far the most loving, but I take him out daily, and my brothers only take their out about once a week. He will come if you call his name, but that is about the extent of what he is "trained" to do.
Dwarf hamsters are available at most pet stores, and they come in a variety of colors.

If you're looking for one thats easy to train, do NOT get a dwarf hamster. Yes theyre cute but I've yet to ever hear of anyone successfully training them. Theyre fiesty, and quicker than most hamsters. If you want a super sweet kind thats easier to train, get a teddy bear hamster. Theyre a little bigger, and a little more laid back than the rest of them. They usually have the sweetest dispositions and are pretty easy to train.

You must get a syrian hamster (teddy bear) They are the most wonderful pet you can have. They are the biggest of the hamsters but that means they are easier to handle so you can play with them alot more as they are incredibly laid back and calm, but love human contact. Unlike the smaller breeds they dont bite as much. I have had my hamster a year and he has never bitten and loves coming out to see me and my husband. Good luck.. I hope you have lots of fun with whatever breed you decide to go for

Black bear hamsters tend to have a very mild attitude, closely followed by teddys. Stay far away from the russian dwarfs, i've never been in contact with one who wasn't nasty. If you like the smaller ones that are very timid and mild go with a chinese dwarf.

I PERSONALLY LOVE THE TEDDY BEAR HAMSTERS. THEY ARE SOOOOO VERY LOVING AND SO PLAYFUL. THE ONE I HAD, YOSHIE, STARTED OUT BEING MY SON'S. I WAS TERRIFIED OF ALL HAMSTERS. THEN YOSHIE ADOPTED ME. HE WOULD GET OUT OF HIS CAGE AND RUN STRAIGHT TO MY FEET AND SIT ON MY FEET. I NEARLY FAINTED THE FIRST COUPLE OF TIMES. THEN I STARTED TO PICK HIM UP AND HE WOULD ACTUALLY ACT AS IF HE WERE KISSING ME. HE SNUGGLED IN MY POCKETS WHILE I DID DISHES AND CLEANED HOUSE DURING THE DAY, AND MANY NIGHTS HE ESCAPED HIS CAGE AND SLEPT ON MY PILLOW, NESTLED IN MY HAIR NEAR MY EAR. HE EVEN LEARNED A FEW TRICKS FOR TREATS.HE WAS VERY CLEAN ABOUT HIMSELF AND THEY ARE EASILY FOUND AT MOST PET STORES.

The flying hamster, no doubt about it, absolutely the best choice.
You'll need a badminton racquet, too.
