We have so many Americans fighting what seems like an endless war in Iraq and are spending billions when that could be put towards something else like the millions of children who are without adequate medical care in the United States. I just found out that a close friend of my family's was killed in Iraq and he was from Minnesota.

So very sorry to hear about your family friend. That SUCKS!!!.
This is an illegal war that has been made public knowledge. First its Saddam and Iraq have ties to al-quieda then its WMD's then well he was a terrible man that needed to be brought to justice and removed from office. When did our tax dollars and our babies lives become the governments own to throw away and kill to invade other countries on false information..There is no purpose except big money gains for elitist of power. Once we proclaimed war on terror we just started a never ending war.Project for a new American Century or PNAC forecasts this all. It was written by such people as Cheney, Rumsfeild,Wolfowitz and others. It is scary the way things are coming to pass just as PNAC says.

The whole purpose in this war is for the Americans to get their hands on Iraqs oil and protect it as oil is worth alot of money and they want all the money.
They don't care how many lives die or how many people suffer they just want to get rich and they are dragging all their allies into it so they can help them get more money because countries like Australia and that in the world couldn't protect themselves if they were invaded by a major country. They would need the help of a strong country like America to fight for them.

Denise! first and foremost -- condolences on the loss your family friend. that being said --yours is an intriguing question...since question like yours can only be answered with the passage of time "i.e. history by historians". for us -- small people --we lack most of the evidence and documentation that governments have and we can not conclude one way or the other -- what the h..l is going on there in Iraq or the decision making apparatus in Washington, d.c. this is a short answer -- for a longer one you have to wait until a historian and/or an investigative journalist picks up the pieces and puts the puzzle together. so far it is a war -- not between two nations' people but between good guys and bad guys. up to you to determine whose side you are on. hope it helps.

Its so that the big boys can play with their little toys and say "This is mine...and mine is bigger than yours!" and so that at the end one can say "neener neener! I won!" problem is now...theres a big mess to clean up : / instead of cleaning it up the big boy is making even MORE of a mess...

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Really I am. I'm not trying to make light of the war in Iraq, but thats how these "leaders" and diplomats and decision makers are treating it, instead of treating it as the lives of men and women who are our brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, and friends.

The war has no purpose, Bush was just trying to impress his father. Now he looks like the biggest as*hole in the world.

We are trying to plant democracy in the middle of a barbaric country. When we leave, 1 year or 50 years, they do back the way they were. They don't have the mental capacity to rule themselves.
