I'm German and born and still living in Berlin.
Berlin is a very multicultural city with inhabitants from all over the world. The greater part of Berlin people is open minded.
Surely, there are some racists also in Berlin as probably everywhere else in the world. But it's a small minority.
Most Germans learnt their lesson out of our history quite well.

I wish you a great time in Germany!

I'm also German/American Citizien and I've been living here in Germany since '99 and I haven't had any problems what so ever...
Although my german is pretty rusty and doesn't seem to get better people are nice to me and wanna know more about me and what's it's like in the States...
Sure there are still regions in Germany where Nazi's present are but thankfully that is a very tiny space and is getting more pushed back by the people of Germany...
You should be fine here in Germany as a colombian.
Germany isn't the Germany anymore which it was 60 years ago...

In my experience there are no real racial issues in Germany and as an open minded person you should not experience any major problems. Mind you...German culture is very different to the Colomian one and you might experience some difficulties here ...but there are more likely to be cultural than racial...just learn as much as you can about our culture and the way we are communicating before you come..you'll be fine...

Yes there are but people have started to kinda get over it. Its not just with turkish people its also with Americans or non germans. I am American and German but when I came here I didnt speak any German so they always treated me weird and said mean things but when I learned German they left me alone and treated me the same as everyone else. So if you are colored or whatever you should do your best to learn german because there are turkish people here that speak german and are treated like germans so they wont know the difference..unless they are turkish... lol.. Good Luck!! Dont let the bastards get you!!! Oh yeah!!! I actually live in Berlin sooo... and im 16 well almost 17 so my experiences might be different than yours!! And I know what Memphis means about his german being rusty and all and that he hasnt had any problems. That is because he stays within his american community. He is just like all the american teachers at my school. And berlin is not frankfurt!!!!! So yeah....

I have many African, Latin Americans and Asian friends living in Berlin for many years -- I think that might answer your question, I think. Berlin is quite safe - indeed, there are idiots everywhere in the world, but you don't have to worry. Berlin has the largest ethnic minority population in Germany, mainly Turkish nationals.

Greetings from Germany...

Berlin is a very multicultural city, and the majority of people there are not racist. (Of course, you get a few idiots, but then you have those everywhere.) Don't worry about it, you'll be fine. :)

Enjoy your stay, and make sure you take time to see all the sights, and also to just wander around and explore. :)
