I want to go to Berkeley School of Optometry, but I need help picking out the school I'm going to before that. Currently, I want to go to San Jose State to major in bio and then apply for Berkeley. Is that a good decision? Would going to a school like UCLA help my chances of getting into Berkeley later?

Optometry is very competitive. The better the school you go to, the better your grades will look. Of course, your grades need to be in the range they're looking for.

But, to answer your question: yes, going to a school like UCLA will help your chances of getting into one of Berkeley's grad schools versus San Jose State. Doesn't mean going to SJSU stops you from going to Berkeley. It's just much harder to do so.

I'm not sure of which school you should go to before, but whatever school you do go to, make sure that you maintain a high gpa.

Another thing you may want to consider is trying to find schools that have an optometry program. I think that Lehigh University in PA has an excellent 5-6 year program.

Choose a profession you may have a skillability for. You desire like what you do. If you are now not well in technology or math, then do not move into those fields considering that that is what some of the categories are. Besides with Obama care at the horizon, you will not be making that a lot cash besides.
