I agree. I'm sick and tired of hearing people talk about how emos are like not worthy or something just because their different. Emo's arent even that different from everyone else but people don't seem to like those that are differnet from themselves.

Emo is such a taboo in today's society.. Its pathetic. Honestly I don't think anyone likes to be called, "emo."
I don't think ANYONE truly labels themself as emo, but rather other people themselves label people who are sad/depressed and dress differently from the "norm" as emo.
I have nothing against "emos" or any other group for the matter, as long as they don't purposely try to clash with me. We all have been through the ups and downs in life, and I truly understand what it feels like to be really sad It sucks--it really does. The suicidial ones who cut themselves and or want to kill themselves need help. We need to help everyone when they are down (:

Why would you label yourself as "emo?" You're just asking for people to make fun of you then. People label me as "emo" simply because I wear a black hoodie almost all the time, and because I listen to "emo" music, but I don't call myself that. I'm just me.

You are getting a negative response because you choose to label yourself, by doing that you draw attention to yourselves, some negative and some positive. Once a label is given people will look at you as if you are very different. I work black for years, just like a Goth but I never associated with the label, I just liked black clothes so I was never looked at strangely.

Here's the reason:
You guys gave yourself a label that's not positive. Emo's are emotional people. That's what it means. In someones eyes an emotional emo is weird. No matter how you explain it.
