I think goths are great and I like to think of myself as a goth although I don't show that every day by outward appearance. Most people don't know what they're talking about when they think of goth. There is this huge misconception about this subculture called goth.
Goths are unique individuals who are free to explore their artists abilities through appearance and music. Goths have been around for centuries. There are goths of all ages and goths will continue to evolve. It is also a lifestyle which is not evil.

Well I'm a happy person and I like happy and light colors, so I don't like the fact that they have to dress so dark every day and wear very harsh and dark make-up. Also I don't like the big chunky shoes. I don't have any friends that are goth and I never had a problem with goth people. I just think they look sad all the time and someone once told me that goth people believed in the Devil or something.

I have a few goth friends and have been accused of being goth myself. The thing that I love most about Goth people is that they are accepting of anyone regardless of race, culture or social standing. However, I don't like conforming to stereotypes - too much work and I really love Justin Timberlake. I recommend just being yourself - feel free to like what you want, wear what you want, listen to whatever music you want and you'll have a much more interesting life. Instead of conforming to a group stereotype where the rules have already been defined for you. Good luck

Goths are people too. :)
I use to dress goth, but since i stopped going to bars, i stopped dressing goth. I have changed my style a few times. Now, I'm just casual.
But i prefer goth over prep's anytime. My high school was 90% preppy, and i found they were nothing but snobs and jerks, and half of them were on drugs. My goth friends and acquaintances were cool and treated everyone the same. Even punks and the skinheads i use to know were much nicer than the preps.
So, con't being a goth, you are who you are, so don't ever change because someone thinks it's not normal. :)

i dated a goth back in the day... for most people it just seems like a phase they have to go through for different reasons but most of my friends that were goths grew out of that.. Some stayed because it suited their life styles. Just like preppy sorority girls.. they choose to stay that way because theyre happy living that life style.

Many say goths are trying to find themselves. I think anyone who labels anyone under a certain category is just trying to find order in their lives. By associating different crowds of people with different characteristics under certain categories is just a way those people find order in their life.

I'm a nerd, I guess you would say, so I don't mind goths. Y'all are usually really nice once someone gets to know you, but you do have a hard shell. I'm glad you're expressing yourself, but don't do it just to do it, you know?

Personally, when I think goth, I think troubled teenagers trying to be unique and attempting to discover themselves. Which is understandable :-) Good luck!
