We are moving May 1st to Brasov, Romania and I am concerned with etiquette. I do not want to offend anyone while there. I am learning more everday about the people and the region. For those of you who live there or have been there for more than a day or 2 could you please give me some advice. What are some things I should do and what are things that are a definate NO-NO. I feel that the more I know the easier it will be on us.

Really there aren't any social no-nos that are any different from the US or Western Europe. In fact Brasov is one of the more "touisty" towns in Romania so many locals are used to dealing with foreigners, especially in the center of town.

You're very lucky to be living in such a beautiful part of Romania. Good Luck!

By comparison to the rest of Romania, Brasov is very clean and demonstrates a very good standard of living. You will also notice a very evident German influence. Brasov is also a hub for culture, history (Bran Castle, biserica neagra), and outdoor sports (especially skiing in the resort area of Poiana Brasov which draws an international crowd).
Honestly there is nothing specific in the social framework of the city that you should really be concerned about. It really is like any other European city. And although there is a significant Hungarian minority population, Romanians and Hungarians get along very well as do the Jewish people and the dominant Orthodox population. Inevitably you will have an adjustment period but I think you'll be just fine. Enjoy it....you're really in one of the best places in Romania!

hi! i'm Romanian so i will help. The summers in Romania are extraordinarily warm, (it relies upon the place you're, in case you're occurring the mountains, that's chillier) and the winters are extraordinarily chilly (a chilly? you will confident seize one). Our language... i do no longer comprehend what to declare, you will no longer say the words corectly and you have got a lil dificulties on the beginning up, you may refer to human beings between 14-29 years thoroughly in English and that they are going to comprehend you, however the the remainder of the folk, over 30, did German and not English in college. for the reason that I communicate romanian for the reason that i grew to become into born, idk if it;s an hassle-free language or no longer, however the pronunciation is plenty different than in english. What music human beings hear to? properly, in Romania the smarter the folk in a highschool are, the extra rock they hear to (or so all of us comprehend). we've some shitty music called "manele", that's disgusting so do no longer hear to it. lots of the ladies are into pop, Twilight, female-magazines, boys, makeup, jewelery, outfits,a nd so. Boys? properly, they're involved into soccer(some into tennis) intercourse, intercourse, rock (no longer the previous god rock, the hot one ) , hip-hop (we've romanian hip-hop, artists like "wager Who" "Grasu XXL" Puya" "Cedrik" and so as that are very enjoyed). In romania, in case you're in severe college, prepare for ingesting, smoking, having intercourse.(or a minimum of being requested one hundred situations an afternoon to accomplish that) the place precisely are you going? What city? the different questions?
