If you think it is RAM, try reseating your sticks. Be careful and make sure they are in all the way.

Unplug the power for the machine for a few moments and plug it back in.

Boot up and check your BIOS settings to make sure everything is right. Sometimes a power outage or power surge can cause havoc. You should have your machine and peripherals connected to a power surge protector of some kind. I hope your power supply is ok. You may need to reset your BIOS also at the disk battery inside.

I hope this helps.

Good luck.

Hi. Your first answer would be my first guess. Does the power button require a four second hold to turn off the system? Most do. You can unplug the system and try a full reboot from power off. If you get any response press the "delete" key to enter BIOS. See if you hard drive is detected. Try to boot from the OS disk. Next step would probably be Geek Squad.

Could be many things. You might have tripped the ram. Try removing and re-inserting the RAM. Try holding down the power button a few seconds to see if that powers it off. In all honesty, it could be a world of things. I however have had experience tripping RAM.

It could be a lot of things. You may have a broken hard drive, the power supply might be broken. It's most likely though that it got fried from power surge. Make sure that all your tvs and computers are plugged into a surge protector.

Probably a really messed up hard drive. Not much else inside your computer moves (only the fan) and could make a 'weard noice'.

It depends on the age of the computer but it sounds like the motherboard is shot and if thats a new computer it will prbly be around $800.
