I'm an undergrad majoring in psychology and public policy. I am having the hardest time figuring out which one I should go to grad school for. A psych degree is useless unless you get a ph.d in it. But I want to do more with public policy. I want to work with alcohol and alcohol education, teen ages, educational policy, I want to change and create policy in these areas. And I have yet to have found a dual-degree with the two combined anywhere. Any suggesstions?

I was reading somewhere else where the person suggested obtaining a masters' degree in social work for licensing as a licensed certified social worker (LCSW). That may allow you to work in the public sector as well as in private practice should you become more or equally interested in counseling others with drug and alcohol addiction and/or adolescents. Some schools also have the option of choosing a major in public administration. That may be more with law enforcement, but please don't quote me on that ;) How about talking with your student advisor department about it as well.

didn't you ask this yesterday as well? I still think you should visit the career center. Work backwards. What do you want to do for a career, then find out what the educationla requirements are to be competative in the field. Most likely it does not matter which program you choose it is the fact that you have a graduate degree that matters most.

Get your Doctorate in Psychology and become a practicing Psychologist. You could make a difference for many people. Good Luck.
