Study.
Take notes in class, make flash cards, teach it to your mom, dad, sibling (teaching the material is the best way to learn it), or study with a friend so that you can help each other.
If this is one of those standardized test things, buy a study guide. Personally, I think this is a bit too much, but I know a girl who got herself textbooks for subjects that we weren't taking (but would be on the test), and studied the entire book on her own. She won a full ride scholarship to university.
Go to sleep at a sane time the day before the exam, don't STRESS!!! I always see my classmates cramming details three seconds before an exam, and I'm just sitting there relaxing. Later, they ask how I did so well without studying hard. My trick is, I was relaxed while I was taking it.
Scoring well on exams is like losing weight. We all know how to do it, but we don't want to have to eat right and exercise daily, or memorize flashcards and do our reading, so we keep trying to find easier ways.
For geography, get a blank map of whatever country it is that you need to learn. First, memorize the countries/cities/rivers/etc from a map, then try to fill them in on the blank map. If you do this enough, you will eventually memorize it and have no problem at all.
Good luck.
