I'm not a mechanic but .... it looks like my 1985 camaro ( 6 cyl ) engine is leaking at the manifold .... where it connects to the exhaust system.....

Can this be fixed by just taking off the two bolts and slipping in a new gasket ? DOes the piping have to be disassembled or can you seperate it enough to get a new gasket in there ????

i own a shop, and you can separate it to get a new one in it,just soak the bolts real good with some wd-40 to help loosen them up,and it shouldn't be too hard of a job to do,good luck with it,hope this helps.

The best solution is to remove the manifold.

With a straight edge check that the surface is completely flat. If you can see a gap between straight edge & the manifold, then have it machined flat.

Inspect the head for pitting.

Assembly:
If the two mating surfaces are true, then no gasket is required.

first look for any cracks sometimes old cars sit for a long time then someone final put back on the road the this makes wear make the manifold crack if not then just put a new gasket in.
