Unless you make a move you'll never know what could have been. Since you've know her for 16 years so has she known you and even if she considers you a friend but not more am sure the friendship can/will still be there. Sometimes we just have to lay it on the line, be daring for if always afraid(of failure,rejection etc) if never take a risk then things we could have had in life never come to be. If we want a life full of excitement,experiences,relationships we have to go after it. For those who want and wonder but lack the Courage to go for it ,to try end up living a dull,mediocre life always wanting,wishing but never really having. She may just be waiting for you. Yesss let her know!!!Don't wait she's probably been wondering the same thing abut you.You know her really well so you would know the best way to approach the subject on how you feel about her.Friendship is the foundation to any relationship.If you have a solid foundation when hard times hit your house will still stand.Others who don't have a solid foundation end up crumbling whenever something goes wrong.So go for it and show her how happy she makes you and ask her if you make her happy too.I bet she says yes.

16 years is not a short time...you shouldnt wasted your time..you may miss the chance to let her be yours..you better make a move ..step forward..make her feel that she is a very special person in your life..time is not going to wait for you..so good luck to you and dont let her go or else she will be long to someone else...

I'd say ask some questions first. Ask her in a not so obvious way what she would think about one of her good friends hitting on her. If she says she'd freak out...it will save you some embarrassment...if she says she'd be OK with it...then you know what to do.
