Wow. What White Sox just said is totally arrogant. Obviously he hasn't seen Al Horford play. Florida beat Ohio State by 26 points the one time they have played them this season and in that game Al Horford had 11points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks on 5-8 shooting. Oden only had 7 points and 6 rebounds on 2-6 shooting against the gators. And let's also take what the two have done in the NCAA tournament so far... Horford had 15 points and 16 rebounds in the first round while Oden had 19 and 10 boards against a "real tough" Central Connecticut State team. In the second round Horford had 17 points and 9 rebounds and dominated in the final minutes to put Florida ahead for good while Oden had 14 points and 12 rebounds and fouled out of the Xavier game. In the third round Horford had 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks and was Florida's go-to guy in their narrow win over Butler. Oden only had 9 points and 3 points against an undersized Tennessee team and was in foul trouble once again.
Oden may have a little bit better numbers, but those numbers are inflated because of the overrated BigTen conference and Ohio State not being as balanced as the gators are. Horford's numbers are deflated because he plays in the underrated, but much better conference, the SEC and he is on a team that is very balanced on offense, with all 5 of their starters averaging double figures and have reached 1000 points for their college basketball career.
With that said, Al Horford is better than Oden. Oden may have more "potential", but as of now Horford is the better player. And he has proved it so far in this NCAA tournament and in the gators' 26 point win over Ohio State.
And to you White Sox , I'm sure you remember how Ohio State got their @ss kicked by the gators in both sports, don't you?
-Go Gators!

It's ODEN...one stat left out was blocks per game..Oden has 3.5 per game and Horford 1.9. When he is in the game he changes the other team's mentality on driving to the hoop. Yes Florida did whip OSU way back in December but there is no way to use that first Florida game as a guide...It was only his 4th start of the year and for most of the year he has been using his off hand and played with a cast on his right wrist. They are a much better team 3 months later than they were back then. Even with his off hand he averages more pts, rebs and blocks per game. Shoots 61% from the field and his FT% should only get better when he can use his right hand for a full season. He does need another year in college but come on he's 7'0" 280. Did you see what Dorsey said after the game, he admitted that Oden was just too big and strong and he's only 19. Is he really done growing? Horford should be good in the NBA but there's not alot of 7 footers like Oden with his ability at only 19.

As an NBA scout, I would definitely take Oden because he provides his own unique style unlike Horford but overall, I think Horford is a much stronger player despite Oden's favourable stats and large fan base. Oden gets into so much foul trouble that OSU has to rely on the rest of the team. Horford is a team player who makes key shots and keeps his hands off opponents. Oden will definitely be picked first in the draft even though Kevin Durant is the only college player who has been completely dominant.

Greg Oden hands down. How is Oden big and clumsy? Have you seen him block and rebound? The refs call way too many fouls on the guy, and if he breathes on another player, they'll call Oden for it. Have you actually watched an OSU game?
I don't think Horford was told that he'd be a #1 pick right out of high school.

Greg Oden has a complete game. He plays in a tough conference with a lot of physical play and manages his game well despite that. He does get into some foul trouble, but those issues are easily resolved with the more physical NBA game and the 6th foul.
I am not saying that Horford is a bad player. That would be absurd. Oden is just the better prospect for the pro game that will value his ability to get 10 to 15 points and 8 to 10 rebounds every night.

Horford is a very good player and will likely be an outstanding pro player, but Oden is the type player who only comes around rarely. If you remember Bill Russell who led San Francisco to two NCAA titles in the 50's, then played on multiple NBA championship teams with the Boston Celtics, Oden looks very much like Russell. Oden is a fantastic defensive player who will likely develop into more of an offensive threat over time.

Oden is still not even close to his potential. By the time he hits his peak he will at least be a 1st team All NBA regular. Horford will be a good player but I just dont see the same potential.

For what it's worth- Oden has more potential, but after seeing him in the tournament, he needs another year in college. He gets into too much foul troouble and the referees will not be as kind in the NBA. He needs to learn how to prevent committing as many fouls. Horford, and I know he's a junior, is ready for the NBA now. He will have to stay healthy, but he will be a tremendous power forward.

Sorry, but I do not follow Al Horford a lot and Greg Oden has lots of luck.
