They filmed the first out here in the high desert where I live in California, but I am not sure about the second, I haven't seen it yet. But they usually stick to the original location.

The 2006 version was filmed in Morocco as was the 2007 version of part 2
Ther 1977 version in Victorville California
The 1985 part 2 version was filmed in San Bernardino California
