Pumpkins are squash and will pollinate and be pollinated by other squash...es.
If you are planning to have them in your garden be very careful especially if you are planting decorative gourds nearby. The gourds can pollinate the pumpkins, resulting in bitter, hard, nasty pumpkins. The best way to prevent this is to plant only one type, but if that isn't an option, plant them as far apart as you can, across the yard, one in the fron yard and the other in the back, cover one with netting to keep the pollinating insects from reaching them...
If you cover them you will have to pollinate by hand, rubbing the flowers together should work fine, or you can use a paintbrush. I just use my finger to put the powdery pollen on the sticky stalk in the flower. Make sure that you give them enoug room to grow, they like to spread out!

I'd go with Jazzmine on this one. A squash is a family name while a pumpkin is a specie name.
