What normally gets you scared? That's really the question here. What are your phobias? When you figure that out then finding a movie to watch will be easy. But as a suggestion of what to watch right now, I would suggest an Alfred Hitchcock movie. They are very psychological and they normally get everyone to just at least once every movie.

"Darkness" (2002) staring Anna Paquin she was Rogue in X-Men (dot not confuse this movie with "The Darkness" or "Darkness Falls"). Saw (only the first one); Hostel (i was told is good), Wrong Turn (is a mix between Hill have Eyes and Texas Chainsaw Masacre, not a masterpiece but it's fine).
Try also the clasicals if you havn't seen them: "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" (1974)
(the original the mother of all modern Horror movies; forget about the remakes); Salem's Lot (1979) is about vampaires; "The Evil Dead" (1981) very creepy "The Evil Dead II" is a hight budget remake of the original.

Rainbow Writer, the recommendation I will be giving you is not a movie, but a TV series from the 80s, and you will find some of the episodes scary. Try and see "Sapphire and Steel," especially these episodes "Escape Through A Crack In Time," "The Railway Station," and "The Man Without A Face."

Well,Last House on the Left is gory, but the gore is very psychological. If not that, there's The Shining. The one where the kid says,"REDRUM!REDRUM!"It's an old one from the early 80s with Jack Nicholson. You've probably heard of it.

Candyman. It is by far one of the scariest movies I have seen in a long time. I rented it on Netflix. Its about a grad student who is reasearching urban myths. She learns about the Candyman, who is a hook-handed creature who is said to haunt a housing project in Chicago.
