I laid my bike down and had some body damage, minor scratch on the right side. I was wondering how much does replacing body fairings cost and is it worth it?

Thanks for the info and ride safe.

Two words, Time Capsule...

Its obviously worth it for the look of the bike when you're cruising and for resale value, unless you plan to use it as a stunt bike. Fairings shouldn't be too bad. Check eBay for used parts cheap....

Well plastic is very expensive (even the aftermarket stuff).

But the nice thing is that you can repair minor breaks, cracks, abrasions, and even broken-off pieces yourself.

I went down and got one of those plastic welders from Harbour Freight. It cost $25 if I remember right. And the little plastic rods cost a couple of bucks for a pack.

U need to have an air compressor too for the air flow.

It's really easy to learn plastic welding. My 15 year old kid does a great job. After sanding, primer & paint it looks like a new fairing (on the outside anyhow).

For simple abrasions, I use that J B Weld stuff. It fills in gouges and scrapes real well. Then you can just sand it down, primer the piece, paint it and you can't even tell it was ever damaged.

All this is really inexpensive, but there is a fair amount of labour involved.

If your a new rider you might want to wait to buy a new fairing, price is different per brand. I would definetly invest in frame sliders, so it doesn't happen again.
