No, Your brother knows you , and he knows loaning money causes problems. It's best to ask a non relative. I loan a person money over 15 years ago They never paid me. I did not forget it I know they didn't.I am a firm believer that everybody should work and learn to manage their income. I do. You spend some ,pay bills, and save some. Remember it's your brother's money . He earned it , so he has a right to choose how he spends it.

I think thats pretty mean. I know its his money, but you are his blood, and I'm sure you wouldnt have asked him if you didnt need it. I would be very hurt by him saying no. I dont think I would be talking to him for a while. If you said you would pay it back in a week, then the only reason I would understand is, that he didnt have it, or he wanted to be nasty. Surely, if he had the money, what would loaning you the money for a week cause him? I think its just plain nasty. You are his blood, money can come and go. Maybe he will be in a similar situation one day and you will refuse to help him.....and Im not just talking about money here. Why does money create so many problems. What's the difference if he asked you to pick him up from work one day. You would pick him up because he needed you to. You needed money and he said no......its a lousy act....so maybe when he needs something from you, you can say "no" too....there is no difference between helping someone out, whether it be with money or with time. Just dont be there when he needs you....and remind him of the time he wasnt there to help you out.

If it will only be a week until you could pay him back, then if its a creditor, ring them up and tell them your financial situation and you will be able to pay them in a week. If it is because you have no food, then go to the Savation Army and get some aid. Just remember this lousy act when he needs something from you.

I have a rotton sister who is power crazy....I would never ask her for money because she is a control freak and would love it if I asked anything from her. She would be the last person I would ever ask for anything from, and probably the reason I gave you the answer i did. Maybe your brother feels superior and thats why he said no....maybe he is a power freak like my sister is.

I'm sure your brother loves you and would help you out if he could.

In fact, maybe he is helping you out by not loaning you money.

Unless he already owes you money there is no reasonable reason why you should expect that he would loan you money - maybe he is trying to demonstrate this.

Money is actually pretty easy to come by, if you're willing to work for it. Maybe your brother loves you enough to give you a nudge towards fending for yourself and earning some money of your own.

Also, it's never a good idea to borrow (or loan for that matter) money. It puts you in debt to another person and puts a strain on your relationship.

You should be grateful to your brother for saying no.

Find another money tree. Perhaps he doesn't have extra cash, or perhaps you have not paid him back before or were late, and he knows better. Just perhaps he thinks you are being rediculous for asking him for money. Ask someone else for cash, or go without. Budget better next time.

You should never barrow money from family members and you should never lend family members money. Just a rule of thumb. If something happens and you can't pay him back then he will get mad at you and its not a good thing. Just tell him ty for considering it and move on.

lending money is messy, esp with family and friends. too many folks get burned after lending money and never getting repaid despite the best intentions of the borrower. maybe he did and it was a costly lesson. so he choose not to make that same mistake again.

don't try to change his mind. don't beg. lending money is what banks are for.

It isn't ever a good thing to loan money to people you care about when you think they might be remiss in paying you back. Maybe he just cares about you and doesn't want money to be an issue between the two of you. After all, isn't he more important to you than cash?
