Although seen, the majority of the Japanese manufacturer vehicles are color keyed. How does an American manufacturer justify cheaping a car with black handles and black side view mirrors and charge the same if not more than the Japanese counterpart? Does it really cost that much more to paint? If so, how are the Japanese manufactuers able to it?

Bottom line is the dollar sign and it goes both ways.

It is indeed cheaper to have them black. From the point of view of the car manufacturers and from the point of view of the insurance companies who have to anti-up when you are in an accident. Also from the point of view when you are in the auto graveyard looking for parts.

It is not especially aesthetic, but it is very practical.

1 its cheaper for the car companies to just put standered black mirrors on car then to custom paint all of them cause there are so many color cars and if u hit somthing then a local store (autozone) has a replacement and when the cars roll off the asembly line they dont have the mirrors on them it comes as an accesorry thats put on after the cars painted there for it is cheaper cause less paint is used when painting the cars and they roll off a totally diff. (companies) line because the car manualfacturer (factory) doesn't make the mirrors and the place that does can't perdict the next color car cause the color that a car will be painted is is moreless random 5 red, 2 yellow ,4 green, 3 burgendy and so forth

Car companies all around the world use black mirrors and bumpers etc.The deluxe package will have the painted or chrome trim.Having these things as options gives you a better chance to control your budget when trying to make a car payment

Black handles are cheaper and they need to save money anyway that they can. This is because their costs are through the roof. Japanese cars don't have these costs to contend with and can build better for less money in theory.

The paint will chip and wear, think about the abuse your mirror takes from road debris and bugs and your handle form your nasty hands. when the paint peels or chips you would be mad.
