people born after WWII (1946 to the early or mid 1950's I think) -- there was a spike in the population of the US after the soldiers returned and this emographic group, because of its size is sought after by policy makers and advertisers. They are soon approaching retirement and senior citizen hood.

After World War 2, all the male GI's came home to waiting spouses or girlfriends they then married. The result was a baby "boom" of proportions never before seen.
The boom was from 1946-1964.

During the time after WW1 there was a exceeding amount of babies being born. People from age 55-60 are from this era.
