I'd ask why we are bombarded with the same double speak day after day. For example, all of the media refers to something called a "war on terror". This sounds more like propaganda than news. Why doesn't one mass media outlet refer to it using more accurate terms such as "US occupation of Iraq"?
Another possible topic might be why there is so little reporting about Rosie O'Donnell's position on the 9/11 demolitions of NYC WTC 1,2, and 7? There seems to be much more reporting on her opinion of Donald Trump's hair. Where has all of the dissent gone?

Well there is politics, global warming. I like the narcissism of the Generation Next as opposed to the Baby boomers or Generation Xers.
Lots of material there to choose from.

i once did an opinion paper on getting rid of the penny. the teacher loved it, and it brought up a lot of conversation in my class. not too hard to write about, and pretty interesting stuff.

One that gets your blood boiling.
You can do research on anything, but this is an opinion article, so it ought to be something you feel strongly about.
