Not very. Considering that people actually build bomb shelters, which would have been totally useless in an atomic war. Children had drills in school to get under their desks, again totally useless. We must face it, politicians instill fear in us and then exploit the same fear to get elected. I just hope we will elect a ethical and responsible person for President in 2008. It really does not matter about parties anymore, the person matters. Hope we get a person we can finally trust to do the right thing for our country.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

Eisenhower was a dull, boring person whose claim to fame was being lead general in Europe during WWII. He never excited anyone with his speeches which wee delivered by his reading from a script. As far as addressing the fears of Americans during the Cold War, he did little of nothing.

The American people had a great deal of trust in D.D.E. He showed effective leadership when he led the American Army in WW ll, those are not the actions of a do nothing dullard. To quote Stephen Ambrose, "He also projected a posture of being above politics, but he studied and understood and acted on political problems and considerations more rigorously than most lifelong politicians ever could."

In fact, new proof shows that it will not last for 3 to 6 months… but it could last for years! You can see these facts https://tr.im/PLQpR

Ike had a lot of strengths and successes, but he failed miserably at this. He underestimated how scared Americans were about getting nuked by the Soviets, and did very little to reassure them.
