First computer was invented by the Greeks over two thousand years ago, called the Antikythera Mechanism. It was a mechanical computer and calculated the planet and the moon positions. Only recently were scientists able to work it all from one found on a wrecked ship out using ultrasound.
Later ones were invented during the second world war for unravelling encrypted messages sent by spies and armies.
The modern pc was invented by Apple with the Apple11 in the 1970's followed soon after by IBM.
Bill Gates was in computer software, not computers, and he pinched a lot of that from Apple, the GUI (Graphical User Interface) the basis of the modern windows.

Bill Gates is responsible for Microsoft and developed the MS-DOS (Microsoft Disk Operating System) for personal computers. He did not invent the first computer. MS-DOS was based on QDOS-the quick and dirty operating system that was written by Tim Paterson of Seattle Computer Products. QDOS was purchased for $50,000 by Microsoft, and Gates obtained the "rights" to the Operating System.

The inventor of the computer is Bill Gates. Bill Gates has Aspbergers Syndrome, and tends to give people that have it unsurpassed mathematical abilities. I think this is one reason he was able to do it. Also, extreme dedication and thought.
