While right around day 14 is your most likely time (assuming you have a 28 day cycle) - don't assume you only have a 3 day window - many babies have mangaged to be conceived outside of that time frame.

I have a 23 day cycle, and seem to ovulate around day 11. We were using BBT to chart my cycle in prep for getting pregnant w/ our 2nd child. We did not have intercourse between days 6 and 17 (5 days before & 6 days after), yet - surprise - I got pregnant! Still don't know how he managed to get conceived, but he's 7 & healthy, just arrived a few months earlier than we planned.

Yes, the 14 day time period from the start of your period is the most fertile date roughly but here are many reasons to not count this date too heavily. your cycle may be rock steady on 28 days and factors such as stress can unbalance it. If you are living with other fertile women your cycle can reset over time to match theirs. Sperm can live for days inside your body. Times are debated but some experts think sperm can survive up to 7 days (3-4 is more likely in most situations). I'd suggest you try a week after and just go at it like bunnies. Keep his zinc levels up to promote robust sperm motility and keep him in boxers to keep his temp balanced as best as possible. (no hot baths or hot tub around that time either). lastly, just relax! Stress dramatically lowers fertility.
Good Luck!

14 days from now. You will have a 3 day opportunity to get pregnant the 14th 15th and 16th day of your cycle(day one is the first day of your period).
