how do you get rock smash. I need it in order to make the cave go through to help the guy get to his girlfriend, wanda.

You get the Rock Smash HM in Mauville city. When you enter from the south entrance, head to the far right of the city and enter the lower house. The person in there will give you the HM. You need to defeat the Mauville Gym leader in order to use it outside of battle though. He uses electric pokémon so a ground type will be your best bet. Once you clear the tunnel, you get HM4 (Strength) though you have to beat the lavaridge gym in order to use it outside of battle.

U get it in the next town after u fought May for the second time or the guy..... and u enter the house u see fist and theres a guy with glasses in the entrance and go inside and talk to guy..

There's a house directly south of the bicycle shop in Mauville, go into the house and talk to the guy.

The easiest solution is to have a Gyarados and a Tropius because the two of them can learn all the HMs in gen III.
