I think arranged marriages can be a good and a baad thing . I have a friend who about to get married threw an arranged marriaged. although it is prohibited in her culture she asked her parents can she date the guy get to know him and family on a personal level not just what was being said in the Indian community after lengthly conversation her parents as well as the guy parents arred they have been dating for two years and their once arranged marriage is now a love marriage. I think your will never intiually find someone who will do you harm or make you unhappy. but if you dont love the person being married to them will make you unhappy. If this is your situation may you should try talking to your parents ask them can you date the guy until you graduate from college this way if things don't work out you will have the means to support yourself and possibly your family. i know of pleanty of arranged marriages were the husban doesn't give the wife nothing and she struggle greatly to get the things she needs for her kids he gives all the money to his family.in summary I think arranged marriages shold be consulted with all the parties involed especially the bride and groom.

Well you couldn't do any worse than love marriages which run at around 40% divorce. It's a lottery either way.
Arranged marriages worked in their context of family responsibility where everybody from both families were involved in a marriage. I'm not sure about these days.

I hate the thought of it. Though the parents might have good intentions, most arranged marriages fall apart because of the lack of love and commitment.

I've never really liked the concept, even though it may work for some people. It depends how much you trusted the people who were setting you up.

The "sex with whomever" concept is horrible, too.

People need to think what marriage means to them. Sex is more than a physical thing and marriage is more than a financial opportunity.

I think it should be illegal all over the world. It's almost like trading in human beings, instead of a person finding someone they like, falling in love and then getting married. It's almost like the child is a possession to be sold to the highest bidder. Sorry, that's my honest opinion.

Its wrong marriage should be about love it shouldnt be forced upon you! I think there should be a law that forbids it.

As Mea West said, "Marrige is an institution, well I'm not ready for an institution"

Yikes, being forced to marry someone you don't know would scare the crap outta me.

Not a good idea here but elsewhere where it's tradition it should be honored.
