Their skin looked horrible and pastey like they had no colour, their hair looked lifeless, In fact they reminded me of the living dead. Why do junkies look like this, is it the drug or do they just not take care of themselves.

You must have been round my way!
They all look like that in the end. The drug becomes everything and they stop eating, sleeping, exercising ... everything is geared towards getting the next fix. The drug is their only love, because it's bigger, better than anything else in the world.
It's sad, I know. There are loads of people like that near me. Starving whores with death in their faces and no hope in their eyes. It eats their hearts, in the end.

I think that it is lack of good nutrients. Think about it ...if all you did all day was take crack, instead of socialising, getting something good to eat, not taking care of your appearance or hygiene, I don't think anyone would look good.
Its quite said and upsetting. The drug take over an individuals life, and pretty much eats away at the individual physically and mentally due to their dependency. These girls obviously need help and cant find it. Shame :-(

Some drugs make them feel like their skin is crawling and they keep scratching, like Meth heads. They end up with sores and lose their teeth. That, in conjunction with the fact they don't take care of themselves, make them look awful. So it really is a combination of the two.

Honey, I live in Los Angeles and see crack heads every day, sadly.
It's a combination of the effects of the drug leaching all the nutrients out of their systems, and no self-care.

Well, they start as kids not caring about what will happen. Screw the future, and be popular for teh today. Now they're addicts, who need seriouse help. This is all about peer pressure, or bad home life. Kids start for those reasons, and once you start its very hard to stop. You can't help but to feel bad for them, really. But anyways, atleast you know you'd never start.
