I don't like any particular genre. I like music with a positive or otherwise relevant message, regardless of genre. I also like instrumentals with a lot of depth and (shall we say) skill.
May God bless you.

The good stuff. Genre isn't really what matters. I like a few artists that touch my heart from all kinds of music. And I love artists who are virtuosos of their instrument, or those who push their instruments to do different things. And I love artists who can reach me emotionally. It doesn't even matter why.
Not a jazz fan, LOVE Bobby McFerrin.
Not a musicals fan, LOVE Les Mis.
Not a rap fan, LOVE Eminem.
Not a punk fan, LOVE Adam Ant.
Not a country fan, LOVE Garth Brooks.
I am drawn to most 70's rock though. I like most of it, even the crap.
My fav instruments are both kinds of guitar, as well as piano and Hammond. I love singers who have really unique voices or excellent control, or who can wail without seeming to work very hard. For example, I have always loved the way Amy Grant, Lisa Loeb, and the singers from Sixpence None the Richer and the Cranberries...use their voices. Their voices kind of ~swing~ in an effortless way, it's so cool! Being a singer, I know how hard that is. Even the metalmen...they have this real musical quality when they belt it out. Sebastian Bach? The singer from Iron Maiden? Geddy Lee? Good stuff.

I am normally a alternative rock type of person, but I love listening to piano. Not classical, ancient songs, but more modern, improv types. Theres just something about the music a piano makes, that requires appreciation.

anything that takes skill, like rock, music with instruments and that took years of hard practice to get good at. i dont listen to pop cuz half the ppl cant sing and rap is a joke cuz no skill and all the instrumentals in this music is computer generated. what is the world coming to where computers make our music and thats what is "popular" now a days

I love R&B, Hip Hop, Raggae, Alternative....I'm pretty open to all types of music...except heavy metal. If the song has a good beat and a story line I'll appreciate it.

Jazz because it takes more techical skill than other music to play well. Also rock and roll because it changed music to what we know of it today (but of course blues formed from jazz and blues gave birth to rock and roll, so really jazz kinda changed music to what we know of it today) and rock and roll created a cultural and musical revolution.

It really depends on my mood. I generally find myself in the rock and roll genre. Really anything that has a meaning is what I like to listen to.
