World of Warcraft, because it is easy to catch onto, endless things to do, a friendly community, and well it is just darn fun.

World of Warcraft is most popular. I have nevered played WoW but I did play Warcraft 1, 2 and 3 and they where great. I think alot of the first people in WoW just came along for the next game in a very popular fanchise. Once those people where playing the game was already the biggest MMO. Other people just kinda came alon later just to be where everyone else was.

eve online...if your into sci fi or space i'd recommend u get it, its really fun.
or wait for star trek online (im not even a fan but it looks AWESOME!)
