September's birthstone is sapphire. Check out the selection on QVC or HSN. Sapphire comes in LOTS of colors besides the usual blue. Watch out for the "midnight blue" sapphires. They're almost black and are usually just an inferior stone that barely qualifies as an acceptable sapphire.
