No, it's completely reasonable and very smart.

Is it unreasonable...you mean if it's not a good idea? Well honestly, I'd have to say it depends on how your partner is reacting to his or her high. If s/he's being abusive, then it would be a "hell yeah, it's a good idea to break up the relationship." If s/he's trying to break free from the addiction and survive through recovery, then hopefully you would stick by him/her no matter what =) and of course, there's the various degrees of love that affect the reasons to break up the relationship. Like if you really love that person, maybe drugs wouldn't be so much of a big thing.

I agree with the first person run and run the other way as fast as you can. I don't think it unreasonable because if there using drugs there more likely to lie to you steal from you and even maybe violent towards you and you have the right to say you don't want that. Good luck and don't let them suck you back in to the relationship or it may destroy you.

No. Its smart. As long as someone is using drugs their only true loyalty and love goes to the drug. Their personality changes, their sense of morality, loyalty and everything is distorted. If it was a choice between you and the drugs eventually it will be the drugs or alcohol. Parents abuse and abandon their children. Friends steal from their friends and family and do things they would never do sober.
So, my advice is run don't walk from your relationship until that person is not only willing but actively sober. Because in the end they will betray you if they continue to use drugs.

Unreasonable? Personally, I think it is unreasonable to be in a relationship with someone who is doing drugs.

No I got out of a relationship like that years ago. Thank God I made the choice to move on. Now I am happily married to a person who never did drugs or alcohol. What a peaceful life now. Read codependancy no more. It is generally a disease to choose addicted people in ones life.
