I've never thought of it that way. But now that you say that it makes total sense. I believe that it is just the headlamp of an oncoming train. YES!

Sometimes it seems like that doesn't it. After that train goes by you'll be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel again.

light at the end of a tunnel is a symbol of hope. figuratively speaking a tunnel symbolises a depression, there is just no way out. you run and run but every side you look at is dark and gloomy .
So, when you search for your escape you get to a point where you finally see the light at the end of the tunnel ( the light is an exit to the fresh air, which is freedom and hope)
