if your not going to be using it for a long time take the battery out don't ever run your laptop battery flat because it could wreck or severely diminish its capacity you can recharge the battery whenever whether its at 20% 55% whenever. don't expose it to high temperatures. try an keep dust out of the keys keep the lid closed when not using it so it doesn't scratch the screen etc. hope it has a long life :)

Don't eat around your notebook, try not to cover up the fan vent on the notebook, and charge the notebook on a desk where nothing can catch on fire and in around room temperature. Also don't rush your notebook when starting up and don't ad to many programs when your notebook is brand new but later you can add more. And don't push on any part of your computer.

Speaking from experience, never, ever, ever use a laptop with the battery still inserted while on a bed. Stuff like fabric and comforters and pillows trap heat horribly so if you're going to charge - do it on a flat, hard surface where the heat is allowed to dissipitate properly.

Alternatively there are small attachments you can buy to put on the base of your laptop which give you a few centimetres of "breathing space" for heat to circulate - helps prevent overheating and battery DEATH.

Yep. Don't drain your battery dry, if you're using your laptop often connect it to the direct power source but remove the battery cartridge, and keep your battery catridge in use!
