OMG, PEOPLE, she asked for PRIVATE investigators! Not actual cops! The gangs on CSI, Colombo, Without a Trace, Cold Case, they're COPS. You can't go out & hire them yourself.
Right now, likely the best two P.I. shows on the tube are Monk & Psych, both on friday night on USA Network.
In the past, we've had hundreds of P.I. shows, Just a few examples:
Mannix, Cannon, Barnaby Jones, Harry O, (All the old Quinn Martin Productions).....
Magnum, PI, Simon & Simon, (& all the other Bellisario Shows)
The Rockford Files, Murder, she Wrote, Diagnosis:Murder, Moonlighting, even Scooby-Doo!

How old of shows are you looking for? There used to be Colombo, Magnum P.I., Mike Hammer... Not too many new shows focus on an investigator anymore. I can't think of anything new...

Matlock, Veronica Mars, Perry Mason, Colombo, Murder She Wrote. Murder She Wrote was the best. I loved this show since I was a kid and it's still a great show.
