Can anyone tell me who the killer was in the movie 'Klute' starring Jane Fonda & Donald Sutherland?

I only saw the first half, got a phone call and missed the second half of the movie. Also, whatever happened to the missing guy that Klute was searching for?

Charles Cioffi was the killer, his psychotic rage set off by being with a prostitute, who he blamed for everything.

The missing guy (the dead guy) was murdered by Cioffi for walking in on him and discovering him in a strange "sex act".
The missing guy was completely innocent, but was framed by Cioffi.
